evaporator canister

HI All,

have anyone removed evaporator canister?? any benefits?

I picked up my bike from forst service today and service manager handed me my old evaporator canister, saying that I would not miss it.

I have not ridden the bike yet to know if it made any differences.

Why remove it? It contains activated carbon that your fuel tank vents through. The vapors collected are burned off, preventing raw hydrocarbons from entering the atmosphere. What gain do you realize from removing it? Just because it is emissions related doesn't necessarily make it "bad".

I would place a call to the EPA for that.
That stuff has no effect on performance anymore. Back about 20 years ago yes. But with todays Fuel Injection systems wrapped up into engine design and tuning. Its not hurting anything. Only hurting us when your bike adds to the smog problem. If they belive its hurts performance then I would find a dealer that understands the systems and is not trapped into 1978 ford thinking,
I would not be happy about touching something on my bike with my knowage. Leads me to that question "What else did they do?" Last question you want when your out carving up the canyons.
