Yep, them's the ones good choice...got them myself, such a difference as the stock ones JUST DON'T WORK! All we need now is he summer. Oh good choice on the 1078. as well...obviously you're a very wise man!

How are they fitted to the existing bolt used for teh std mirrors?

you have to buy an 'adapter' kit,which screws on to the bolt. 2 kits reqd,one each handlebar side of course.the adapter is the bit from the handlebar to the 'stem' of the mirror. fitting instructions come with the adaptor kit, but its pretty straight forward.
