1078 cut exhaust?

Just going through my exhaust options, want to keep the oem slashed cans, but want to get rid of the cat. Has anyone just cut the cat off the headers and fitted up the mid pipe? Just wondering if the headers would mate up to the mid pipe though? Seems an easy solution - maybe?

squibby does say on there " but with the 910 MV used to sell chips for the ECU pre-set for various modifications, one being a de-cat" - - that is for De-cat and different cans
That 1078 pictured with De-cat was fully welded but have seen it done with springs and welded on loops just not as neat.
