I NEED HELP.... bike won't turn OFF

just got back from nice 300 mile ride
came home
washed bike..... NOT that vigorously
then.......
with NO key in the ignition.....
all the dash lights are on.....
the bike thinks that the key is turn
it can be used without the key

i guess water got into the ignition
not sure how

ever happen before
any thoughts?

yeah
i usually don't wash my bike either
so...
i guess that water got into the ignition.....
well.... it's still a shit system that will do this

bad engineering
unless mine is the only one that has this issue

for the record
the key still makes the headlight and parking light go on and off just as it should
so.....
maybe the reason that the ignition is always on is something else wet and not the key slot

you think?

Did you try the kill button? Perhaps the MC is confused? In any case, you might want to engage the kill button to avoid draining your battery until you get it in for service...

BTW, I have washed many times without this issue.

oh yes.... i have KILLED it with the KILL switch
but the lights on the dash remain on and the fuel pump is OFF

i will connect it to a battery tender... but, i suppose that isn't a good idea if the dash lights are on.... maybe it doesn't matter

Try to disconnect the battery, leave it for 30 minutes and re - connect it. Hopefully this causes a reset.

If you have compressed air, I would try to blow the switches and ignition lock dry. Don't use a full blow, though.
