Pros and Cons: 1078RR (09) v 910R (08)

With just the net to aid me (working away from home for another week) I have found a nice late 08 910R for sale close to where I live.

I have yet to ride either 1078RR and 910R (and can't wait for a test ride day when I get home).

Can anyone on here give me the fors and againsts of either bike and let me know how they would compare in all aspects (handling, power, torque, brakes etc).

The 910R is obviously alot cheaper than the 1078's I have been looking at but would I be disappointed if I bought the 910R over a 1078RR?

Are the chassis and suspension identical on both bikes?

Sorry to bombard you with questions.... I'm getting excited about going new bike shopping!

I like the 910R a lot with the Microtek ECU and Corse exhaust it has zero throttle snatch and it sounds great. It has 130 HP at the rear wheel and is tuned for mid range. I am sure that the 1078 is faster but at a certain point how much do you need on the street? I am biased but I would save the coin and sort out the bike with the ECU, exhaust and suspension. On the other hand you can do the same things to the 1078...can't really lose on this one

Are the calipers on the 2008 910r two piece or mono-bloc like the 2009?

For the OP if you are in the USA there are several 1078RR still on some dealer floors in CA,CO and MN...might end up with a pretty good deal out the door.

I was in same position as you, however the great factory discounts they were offering on the 1078RR (Dec 09) convinced me to buy a new one.

I'm glad I made that call - it's a great bike.

I think these discounts are still on in Oz and sure they will stay especially now the 2010 models are coming out.

1078rr

I chose the 1078RR because it has more characters.

Which ever one you choose, you can't go wrong.
