Brutale 910 S 2006 vs. 2008 any real differences?

Just curious if there are any real differences or issues between the 2006 and 2008 Brutale 910 S.

Thanks

I have a 2008 910s. From what I have read here on the forums, the 2006 and earlier models "seem" to have had more issues (such as the SPU unit). I don't know if this stems from the fact that it's due to age or because MV ironed out the issues with the newer models. I did have a 2004 750s Brut and I had some issues with it overheating and stalling. My 2008 910s so far has been pretty reliable.

Otherwise, I think they are identical?

The fuel injection management system and related SPU (mistakenly aka 'CDI' box) were updated for 2008 model. No more EPROM. Result was fewer electrical gremlins. Otherwise bikes were pretty similar.

Headers and cat are one unit for '08, ECU is closed loop. If you want to upgrade exhaust you will need headers, midpipe, a different ECU and dyno tuning. Power Commander is not an option. '06 gets by with midpipe and eprom/pc3 with tuning. '08 seems to be more reliable. Best of all, it comes in orange.

2008 is later version electronics, as everyone else noted. 5SM ECU, Euro3 compliant with 02 sensor and second air injection, tamper resistant one piece header and catalyzer....etc..

Benefits? better fueling, better gas mileage, fewer "bugs" with the service power unit, etc. All older Brutale accessories, exhausts and stuff fits.

Downsides? more costly to modify because a Power Commander will not work, so "kit" ECU or Microtech from X81.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.
