2007 910R your thoughts please....

Hi all, I am seriously considering joining your elite ranks & purchasing (what will surely be the first of many) an MV Agusta.

I'm currently looking at a beautiful 2007 model 910R Brutale, with minimal klm's on the clock; 3,600 klms to be exact.

I am about to purchase this through a non MV dealer & have some mild reservations - this is where hopefully you all come in.

This bike has been at the dealers' shop for a few months & according to them, has been sitting at the back of their workshop, unridden for the whole time.

The bike at present is running quite rough (it sounds like it may not be firing correctly on all cylinders), has trouble idleing and stalls if no rev's are held on the throttle.

Their explanation is that since it's been sitting unridden for a number of months (likely to be 5 - 8 months), the injectors are blocked by dried fuel & all that is needed is a clean & tune to get her running like new again.

Whilst this explanation sounds plausable, I wanted to ask your advice on whether this 'story' is plausable, or if it may indicate something more serious.

I guess another way to put it is, are there any known fueling issues that I should be aware of that could explain this issue?


I would appreciate any and all feedback and thoughts.

Just got myself a low mileage 2007 910R in Jan from Gold Coast dealer, delivered i to me in Sydney. See earlier thread for report and details of long ride with it (Sydney to Emerald Beach an back) which was a breeze.
Best advice is take it to a mechanic who knows about those bikes - if the seller will let you - like Motorcycle Weaponry at Mona Vale.
When was the bike first registered? Any factory warranty left on it?

Make them fixing the issues a contingency of the deal ... and make sure to get the full exhaust with the bike.

Thanks guys for your feedback.
3M_TA3 , I was absolutely going to get them to place a couple of clauses about fixing it into the contract & am aware that they have to provide me with a legislated minimum 90 warranty on the bike anyway.

During this time, I was planning to get it checked out by an MV specialist, I have read that the guys in Mona Vale are reccomended on this forum but ther are a fair way from me. What about the MV Agusta dealer on William st in Darlinghurst - Motorino? Does anyone have any experience with them?

As far as the factory warranty is concerned, don't MV's only come with a 12 month warranty? The bike was registered in 2007, so I would imaging that there was no factory warranty left.

Pardon my ignorance 3M_TA3, but what exactly do you mean "make sure it comes with the full exhaust"?
Did this bike originally come with additional parts that I need to know about?

Again, your feedback is extremely appreciated.

unless im mistaken, the 910R came with its standard exhaust (cat in the middle with "MV AGUSTA" printed on the slipons) and the "MV Corse" race exhaust (different headers, de-cat mid pipe and "BRUTALE" slipons). Worth having, the MV Corse exhaust sounds heaps better!

Can anyone else verify this?????

I suppose it's worth mentioning that I'm in Australia.. I don't know if the bike was supplied with different gear in different markets.

Naturally it goes without saying that I would want to get the additional pipes and stuff. Even if the dealer doesn't have the stuff, it may assist me to negotiate a better price!

In the US market, the bike was supplied with two exhausts; one street and one "off road." The off road package consisted of the slip ons. The headers on both were the same.

When new, the bike arrived in dealer show rooms with the slip ons pictured in the post above and a mid pipe containing the catalytic converter. (It looks like a big lump under the bike) The off road slip ons were in a box.

The mid pipe with out the converter was available from the dealer or other aftermarket suppliers.

Hi Dan,

Having purchased a 2007 910R new in Australia I can confirm that the race exhuast is not included with any MV's here.

In regards to your predicament. If the price is to good to pass up, go for it but it is a risk. All I could think of is that at worst, the computer thing is toast, what's that worth, a couple of $k. If your getting the bike for a few grand uder market, it's worth it.
Otherwise, look elseware.

Again guys, thank you so much for all of your speedy responses.

What I can ascertain so far is that there really are no major known issues that I should be aware of (other than those listed as mentioned above in other threads), and best to really get someone who know's MV's to check it out.

I do have a few "due diligence" calls to make to further check this bike out, but essentially the dealer gives me the impression that they are quite trustworthy with a good reputation to uphold. They really seem to want me to ONLY take the bike when it's running perfectly, not before.

It is a great price, look's like it's been well cared for and well, is simply gorgous !!

Who knows? If all goes well, I'll be the new owner of a low klm beautiful Brutale by this weekend!!!
