Can't see or find any mention of a 12v outlet on my 2016 Brutale 1090? Was thinking of installing a dual USB plug by wiring a fused link directly to the battary. However would rather not have an 'always on' connection and was looking at wiring into the ignition. Be interested to hear about what others have done.
Anyone have experience wiring accessories beyond the ignition? I’ve burnt up a battery in the past connecting direct, so this would be a great option for my nected tank bag! Would love a quick how to from someone who’s done it!
I dont use my USB all the time on the bike, only on long journeys when using the phone as sat nav.
I already have a fused Optimate charger tail on the battery, you can get an Optimate SAE to USB adapter for under £20, so I just plug that in when I need to. Not really a permanent solution for daily powering of USB devices, but ok for ad-hoc use.
Good call, I've got the optimate 4 battery lead already installed so this has to be the way to go. I don't need it for every day use, only when on a longer jaunt when using the phone as my navigation device.
I would assume lots of us have battery tenders. So why not this adapter? It has an on/off switch and uses the leads for a battery tender (which should already have a fuse). It could be mounted in the under seat box for easy access.
