910R buyer research

Thanks for all of the good information. Like John (who ended up buying a Tuono) who posted a thread about things to look for re: buying a Brutale, I'm contemplating the purchase of a 2008 Brutale 910R (there's also a 2006 available). I read the replies to John's thread and read several other threads. I pondered just adding to John's thread, but wasn't sure about the right protocol here.

So based on what I've read, the key items to do/check are:

Check SPU
Service the rear hub, adjust the chain and torque the pinch bolts to 15lbft/20Nm
Check the glue on the headlight lens
Replace the fuel filter and hoses in the tank
Check fluid levels
Consider installing an improved water pump

Did I miss anything?

My follow up questions:
1. Is it typical to need a decent warm up time (e.g., 180 degrees) to avoid stalling?
2. I've read some threads about fork seal leakage. There might be some leakage on one of the bikes that I've seen. Sounds like replacing the seal and the bushing is the ideal fix. Is that correct? Has anyone ever (successfully) used the Motion Pro Fork Seal tool to clean the seal (similar to old trick of running a business card under the seal to clean it)?
3. Just how tough is it to get parts? My previous bike was a Ducati 999, so parts weren't exactly plentiful, but I was able to order online and get them within a reasonable period of time.
4. How important is it to have an MV dealership nearby? I ask because the nearest one is 160+ miles away.
5. Are there any issues specific to the 2008 model?
6. What else would you say about the bike (good or bad)?
7. An honest question - do y'all worry about MV folding up given its somewhat rocky financial history, which would be a real drag re: parts and servicing?

1: Not really, although it's always a good idea to at least let the oil warm a little...when the temp stops blinking is when I ride away.
2: Forks are no different from any other bike. Yes, the SealMate (business card) trick does work in most cases (mine for example)
3: I've not had a problem with parts availability. That said, don't crash...cosmetic stuff is the hard to find stuff.
4: Not very important...these bikes are easy to work on and very reliable. Do your own service!!
5: The 2008 (in USA, 2007 in other markets) Brutale was the first year with the 5SM ECU...a much better EFI system than the old 1.6M. Great bikes !!!
6: See #5....Oh, and the "R" has better suspension and ultralight wheels. The White and Black is the faster of the color choices.
7: Not at all.

I have had a 910r from 2008 and I agree with esqz.
Although not common not as rare as a Bimota parts dont seem to be a big problem and with a manual and an experienced mechanic not particularly difficult .Much routine stuff you can do yourself.
