Ride down to Key Largo

So my girlfriend, me and a friend of ours took a short ride over to Key Largo yesterday to get some lunch. Weather was nice and cool and we were spared the rain that apparently came down in places AFTER we rode thru (we saw the roads were a bit wet when we were riding back). Part of that ride back was in the dark and something about that rain and our headlights made us a HUGE attraction for the bugs (see pics):

Nice pics, gus.

I remember in being in Orlando and seeing roaches big enough to ride. Palmetto bugs, I was told.

Yeah, these were little gnats or something similar (as you can see from the pictures). We came down that same road on the way there and it was fine, so I think it was more due to the rainfall than anything. You don't see bugs like that this time of year otherwise.

Wow...nice pics.

Do you guys realize that a bike designed almost ten years ago looks better than those last year models?

We ate at that same restaurant this past summer, they did a great "all you can eat" crab legs!

Didn't have to deal with those gnats, but further North in Florida we had the Love Bugs which leave a real nasty splatter

I'm in 100% agreement that the Brutale looks much better than the new Monster. Can't even compare with other full faired bikes.

Oh how I wish I were in your "neck of the woods" right now, -21F here as of this moment.
I really like the new Duc, this is an interesting shot seeing them lined up together...I'm not biased, but I really like the lines of the Brutale versus the Duc, I'm not dissing it (fantastic bike), just like the styling of the Brutale better. Kudos to your girlfriend (did you help?) for choosing such a nice bike!

Bloody wet cold here in Texas tonight. 23F and sleeting! I think I would rather be scraping gnats off my bike in Key Largo than ice off my windshield in Dallas.

Trust me, I'm not complaining. The weather was really nice. The bug episode lasted for all of maybe 20 minutes.
As for her bike.....I did help, but ultimately she picked it out. She always wanted something more like the R6 in the picture, but I took her to see the monster and she loved it. A big plus was that it fit her well. She's about 5'5 - 5'6 and she can almost flat-foot her bike. Add to that a nice Rev'it jacket and a helmet that goes great with her bike (see pic) and she likes it even more.

really really nice pics and thanks a lot for sharing

the Duo Brutale - 696 is just fantastic, the brutal's inspiration for the front of the 696 is easily viewed here and it looks great side by side

congrat's to your girlfriend for her choice, white 696 is amazing

but at leasts, even if i'm in love with ducati roadster, the Brutal is just sex on wheels, the 1st pics (your signature is pure porn !!!)

i'm completely agree with that :
