2013 Brutale 1090R ABS

Hello all, I'm planning to pull the trigger on the 2013 Brute 1090R ABS, are there any things I need to be concerned about? The bike is new and will be covered for 2 years under warranty.

I would be concerned about my license. This thing sure pops wheelies easily.

In all seriousness, be sure that you get the box of MV Agusta goodies (manual, spare key, keychain and USB drive with manual) as part of your purchase.

I researched my 2014 Brutale purchase pretty hard. The engines and gear box look pretty solid - only wheel bearings seem to be an issue (inspect these when the tires are being changed). Also, valve checks come up every 7500 miles and run about $600-800 US at the dealer.

I added frame sliders (MV OEM versions), axle sliders, and shorty brake and clutch levers. In the sad occurrence that you have a crash, the sliders may prevent frame damage that would total the bike. On my F4, I wished I had put sliders on as it would have prevented some of the damage.

The only complaints I could find related to the difficult of working through the dash menu to alter traction control and ABS settings. You have to press the buttons hard and they don't always respond to pressure.

Love my Brutale RR so far (admittedly with under 100 miles). It's an F4 I can actually ride in some degree of comfort.

Thanks for the response, Dave, I'm looking forward to taking delivery, the temps are getting into the 60's this week!

In for pics. What color scheme are you getting?
I'm debating the purchase of a 1090RR as well. Interested in your experiences with the bike once you get it.

Hi Brad, I've purchased mine in silver from your neck of the woods. The regular 2013 1090 with ABS, not the R or RR, great bang for the buck and more torque than the RR. I'll give my report after I take delivery next week sometime.

My 2013 1090 has been bullet proof so far. My main tip is to get your suspension sorted (dynamic/static sag etc) as early as possible and then see a pro for suspension advice later on. The factory settings were too soft on mine. Ended up raising the rear by 5mm, dropping the triple clamp by about 7mm and then adjusting the rest to take out the dive under brakes and the slap in the ass from bumps (both induced by it being too softly sprung for my weight - 95kg).

There's the price of rear tyres. I'd worry about that.

No issues here, I have a 2015 RR, 2500 miles since last July. Waiting for the weather to get better here in the UK. Faultless so far

The only minor niggles are really usability; why they could not fit a clock and fuel gauge into all the fancy LCD display I dont know. Why make it so hard to reset the trip meter or adjust any settings? (like 3-4 button presses in a specific order) ...usual small company moans I guess. At least they got the bike right

cheers
