Actual phone line

So I never really cared but wondering why I would have an actual phone line hooked up on my bike. Goes to a box which then splits into a Main and an AUX connection tied back to the battery.
Any ideas?

Maybe not a phone line, but phone cable used for charging a phone or something.

It was probably used with a Valentine1 radar detector. It is not actually phone line. The power and aux display cables look like it though.

I have a Valentine 1 and a Vizalert helmet mounted warning light, what you have maybe the wireless connection between the two,(one small egg shaped unit and a small cube thingey?) which also detects the bike starting and running.

Thanks for all the suggestions and funny replies.
I've been out of search for a while working.
I un-installed because I don't have the second half of the materials.

i do believe it may have been a mount for a radar detector.
Anyhow I appreciate the time to reply.

...if it's an RJ11 jack, it is a custom made 5v power lead to drive various (as SilentService stated) radar detectors or other device powered accordingly. I've built many of them and added them to both my Harley's and MV's. Once the cable is made, it's pretty simply to connect to your Aux Power circuit or in some cases off the lighting circuit to ensure it's only power during the run cycle.

Valentine and Beltronics units can be powered by the RJ11 (5v) connector

Cheers
