Question Arrow mid pipe & eprom.

I'll soon be getting my mid pipe to replace the cat. Has anyone who's done this bothered to get the eprom chip to go with it to make it run a bit better and do i really need one. All i'm interested in is a nicer sound & getting rid of the cat, if it runs a tad better that's a bonus.

I had my cat replaced with a mid pipe that the bike came with ('07 R). Kept the stock slip ons and chip. It runs really nice.
According to the service person at the dealer this particular set up is more user friendly for everyday riding.

I hope this helps

Agreed. I replaced the cat on my Brutale with a straight pipe and NO eprom or power commander. Bike runs great. I had John (Airfuel) give it a run on the dyno and he said it didn't need any tuning.

I think most Brutes come from the factory running rich. Removing the cat leans it out a bit - mine definitely runs better without it (everything else stock).

In my old set-up, my bike had an arrow mid-pipe (stock pipes), and the special eprom ... it ran way too rich. The smell of gasoline permeated my garage after every ride.

Thanks all. I'll not bother with the eprom & see how it goes.
