F3 Front sprocket locking tab washer

Is it ok to flatten it out, then re-bend after installing a sprocket?
No need to put a new one in if installing a new sprocket?

Part #40:

And while we are on the topic, does it really need to be bent for the nut to stay in place?? Seems like such a janky solution...
Thanks guys.

You can unbend it and reuse it.
Just bend over another part, not the same.

You will surprised at how quickly it will come loose without the tab lock.... trust me on this one. That shaft has a lot of inertial loads that will overcome even loc-tite.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

The bent washer method of locking a nut is decades old and works as good as, or better than anything. "Janky" is is not.
