I've never had a clutch go out on me before so I'm not sure this is the problem but it sure does seem that way.

When I downshift from 4th to 3rd sometimes the bike will, what I can only describe as change gears again into the same gear. Bike does the rev up like the gear popped out and back in.

When upshifting from 2nd to 3rd sometimes it won't shift and I have to mash it several times until it shifts up. Easy way to get around this is to use the quick shifter.

I'm also occasionally smelling what seems like burnt brakes and can only assume that is related. Not sure if this is truly an issue as I only started to smell it.

Thoughts?

I'd do a clutch fluid change and bleed, then look for fluid leaks.

Not slipping under load??? Just hard shifting? What Chuck said....

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

Thumbs up ?

Shifting mechanism, not the clutch......
Probably springs going away on the ratchet dogs/hooks, or particles inside the end of the drum If it's like a
1st Gen transmission
