F3 warranty repair

Hi

first post, I have read lots of posts here about sprag clutches and some phase sensor replacements and my question is once the sprag clutch is replaced is it a recurring fault?

My 1083 mile, 15 plate, F3 800 stopped with a phase sensor error two weeks ago and now the dealer has replaced the part he tells me the sprag clutch is now slipping and it will be replaced also. I should get it back shortly but I'm wondering if it will occur again? I'm off to the TT on it and concerned it's going to fail or breakdown again.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

The sprag clutch is a known week point in the 800 series. They seem to fail every 3000 or so miles.

I believe that MV issued a upgraded sprag for ones that failed. So the new one should be good once it's replaced. I've done 7k on my F3, took it to Belgium and back in a day with no issues. The worst I've had is a duff battery.

Had mine replaced quite a few times, but I'm on the first new spec version. So far so good.

Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

Today I found out that its not either of the faults reported, its a bearing on a balance shaft which has failed. New shaft and bearing or new engine from MV depending on the outcome of an inspection. No F3 for the TT. Dealer is loaning me a Tourismo Veloce, nice I suppose but not quite the same. I'm gutted.

Sprag clutch is a know issue but if you keep the bike on the charger when not it use, you should get more than 3000 miles out of it, my wife's let go at 7000 miles. That is the only issue we have experienced with ours.
