F4 1000R, 312,+Lambda/O2 sensor

Odd this one, I popped into my local MV dealer to return the 'old' timing chain tensioner, he has a 312 demo, a 1000R red/silver and a 1000R black both brand new.

I was quite interested to see the new manifold and Lambda sensor on the 312, oddly enough its exactly where I fitted mine for the dyno work.

The cat is slightly different when viewed from behind, I then noticed the red/silver 1000R also had the different looking cat, and yes it also had the Lambda sensor fitted as well yet the black 1000R was Lambda free, I thought the closed loop Lambda control started with the 312? James C any idea's?

(This reply has not been checked for punctuation, grammar, or spelling mistakes and is devoid of any big long cleverwords or condescending manner)

MV's all gone now, still have a soft spot for MV's, waiting for MV to tick all my boxes again.

The red/silver R is probably a Euro3 while the black R is still a Euro2

Was the red R mainfold exactly like the 312?
Was the mid pipe with cat welded to the collectors?

Yes it was, good explanation youv'e offered there, I just thought euro 3 started with the 312 the red silver had a chassis number about 400 later than the black grey bike.
