Seems doubtful, since there are still '05's and '06's out there, and the 312 is priced higher, so as to not automatically devalue the R.

The R was devalued the day they came out with the 312 if they planned on it or not
Of course the R has been devalued.
How much? I'm not sure but i'd say at least 1.500 to 2.000. ($ or € depending where you are)

There are only 150 312's and it's not a replacement for the R. Homologation purposes only. So natural logic says it won't affect R prices on the retail level since there won't be enough 312's to go around.

that is weird because i read in a magazine that the 312 is the replacement for the R. and only bringing 150 to the states was just making a little exclusivity to the 2008 which i would imagine in the next year they will bring more to the states

Hi guys the 312R is the replacement for the R. It has been priced at A$2,000 more than the R down here I would say so the R is not de-valued while the phase out happens.

There is not one article out there nor one dealer I've talked to that has said it's a replacement for the R. Every bit of PR they put out about the R states 150 bikes total and that's it. Ducati Miami specifically stated 150 bikes when I talked to them last weekend as well. Maybe that's just for the U.S.?
If it isn't true, then MV's PR person should be let go!

Since I am currently in the market for an R or 312, I have done some research. And have come up with conflicting stories as well....why, I dont know...maybe some dealers want to get rid of 07 R's or sell 312s.....
As of last week....
Ferraci, (the us importer, and someone who should know).....sales guy told me that they did not know if there will be 08 R's.
The MV dealer in Matison, NC....told me there are 08 r's and he has them in stock.
The atlanta dealer...does not know
Best price I found so far was 21800 for an 07 R' (includes all freight, prep, etc.) No state taxes.
Best price for a 312 so far is 25000 08 of course...OTD, same as above.
So, you have basically wasted your time by reading this post.

A gun is not a weapon. It's a tool, like a butcher's knife, or a harpoon, or an alligator.
