Lightbulb Zumo 550 - F4 mount

Hi all -

I just got a Zumo 550 - GREAT unit. As some of you have pointed out, there are limited mounting solutions for the F4. I have attached pics of my temporary mount, what I did was use the car windshield suction cup mount. I adhered the adhesive "disc" to the area on the gas tank fore of the gas opening and aft of the ignition key (see pics). I then suction cup mounted the Zumo. This was a VERY secure mount.

However, to view the unit whilst riding, you really have to bend your head way down to see it, which is difficult on the go esp with full-face lid. So I pondered solutions and think I have the idea, if not the wherewithall.

The Zumo comes with another piece that is a disc with a ball on top of it - this is for the handlebar mount. If such a piece existed (i.e., a ball) with a suction cup, an "extender" arm (much like the one already included with the kit but not quite long enough) could connect to that ball, and then to the ball on the back of the Zumo bracket. In doing so, the Zumo itself could be positioned forward and sort of "hang" over the handlebar in an almost perfect line-of sight position.

Unfortunately these bits (the ball with suction cup and the extender arm with a ball-clamp at each end), while very simple in design, dont exist. I am thinking of emailing ram-mount who makes the Zumo mount and seeing if such a setup could be made. This would be a good position, I think, because it would not interfere with the steering at all, now would it have to be connected to the handlebar off to the side.

What do you all think? Should I shoot ram-mount an email?

Techmount makes product that fits our bikes perfectly. I picked one up for a GPS, but I think you could use it for a GPS, too.
