dry weight

can anybody explain how they can make the 1000r frame 9 pounds lighter and fit brembo superlights and still claim the same dry weight as the 1000s it does not add up is it me

They lied about the weight of the S? Maybe the new forks/brakes add weight or the stock S wheels were filled with helium! I've never actually read a real-world weight for an S, just the R.

9lbs lighter I doubt looking at the frame it weighs 9lb's to start with, the frame only goes from headstock to engine plates, maybe they mean the whole chassis?

they mention it in the 312r ride review at superbikeplanet.com the frames on the r and 312 are the same and they do mention about weight reduction in the mv advert

Chassis reduction sure, but IFAIK the frames are identical to the S, and surely nowhere near 9lbs difference. The 1098 frame has larger diameter and thinner-walled tubes over the 999, but it is only marginally lighter.
