2001 750 f4 1+1 electrical issues

okay having a bit of trouble here, and as electrics aren't my forte I thought I would enlist the aid of you fine gentlemen.

one of the indicators came off the back of my f4 the other day, so I removed the pair, also the numberplate light wasn't functioning so I removed it aswell, (melotti tail tidy with rizoma indicators).

I have the tail light with integrated indicators. went out for a ride and noticed my rear brake light had stopped functioning. So today I went to examine the connectors and such. I disconnected the tail light and checked for continuity, and I was getting all signals correct, as in light constant and brake light when brakes were activated...

so I presumed the issue was with the tail light unit, however after connecting it all back together I then lost the tail light aswell, and somehow all dash functionality?

feeling rather perplexed I then checked the fuses of which all were fine, I then went back to check the connector again and this time no signal for tail light or brake, indicators are still working however.

I disconnected the dash and reconnected it... (as far as my expertise go tbh) and still nothing, everything else on the bike works perfectly though, indicators, horn, headlamp, main beam, she starts and runs perfectly, (no revs displayed on dash).

So I am completely out of my depth here... any ideas?

This is uncanny I have just had exactly the same problem.
The side lights which include tail light and number plate light the speed sensor and the fuel level indicator work from the same fuse.
I would check the fuse again (Third from the top 7.5 amp) If the fuse goes the bike runs perfectly but the dash display disapears.
You can easily disconnect items to isolate them except the fuel level indicator
Bearing in mind that you have had problems at the back that is likely whre the problem is.
If you look under the ECU there are some connectors, the indicators and the number plate lights.
You can check whether the lights are the problem by not turning them on and running the bike. if the fuse doesn't blow then its on the lighting side.
I also found that the fuse holder wasn't gripping the fuse and causing the same problem of no dash so make sure the prongs in the fuse holder are gripping the fuse. I found that problem by waggling the fuse and the dash came on and off

I thought I had found my problem with the oil pressure switch but it turned out to be the number plate light shorting
