2008 F41000R with 26k+ miles for sale - $7988 - Opinions?

Opinions/Suggestions? I am not even sure this is a 312.
http://www.cycletrader.com/listing/2...R-312-99022218
VIN# ZCGAKFGM38V100719

Some head scratching issues:
Undocumented maintenance history
Dealer seems anxious to dump the bike

I am going to ride down tomorrow Saturday and take a look at it in person.

Hola Carl

Hi CAG,

I just talked to my West coast MV buddies and the MV dealer network is down so I cannot research any info attached to the VIN#. Are there any other ways I can find out the history of this bike?

that's a lot of money for a high milage bike. you could get so many other bikes for that same amount, but with half that mileage. Good luck

High milage doesnt mean crappy bike buddy! My 2005 with 20K miles is in a lot better condition (exterior and mechanical) than most 2000 mile F4's Ive seen!

Inspection results

So I just got home from viewing the F4 (which is still at the dealership). I just didn't have a worry free feeling after inspecting the bike and did not even take a test ride.

The good news, it is a 2008 F4R 312 and is very clean with the rear stand included. I think it even has an ostrich skin seat.

The things that left me scratching my head though were:
1. ZERO maintenance/service history paperwork
2. No owners manual/CD-Rom
3. No tool kit
4. Only one metal key, not the original (that looked like Home Depot cut it)
5. Several stickers on the sides of the bodywork (in places a bike might tip over)
6. One big (ugly) sticker on the bottom of the windshield
7. One subframe bolt was missing!
8. The license plate holder was cut (unevenly) horizontally

Lastly the manager seemed upset that I made a big deal about the service history. I explained that I at least wanted to see the 22,400 mile service paperwork to which he replied that he could take the cost of the service off the price ... until I told him I thought it was in the $1500 range (I think it is maybe $500 though?) He tried calling the previous owner but had to leave a message as no one answered.
Right now I am waiting for the MV dealer network computers to work as they are currently down to run the VIN. I am also waiting for the original owner to produce some paperwork.

Anyway, what say the experts?

Dang, a 312R for that price? High milage or not, thats a good deal. At worst, it can make a nice track bike.
