2010 F4 Steering Damper Mount(s)

Their are two locations for the fitment of the OEM steering damper
The bikes come with the dampener mounted on the two that are closest to the fuel tank.
I've relocated the dampener to the mounts that are closest to the upper triple clamp, it fits fine, no clearace issues.
What I was hoping to do I'd to decrease the leverage on the dampener unit, so that it's range of adjustment offered a heavier feel than is possible in the lower position, haven't ridden it yet, so I can't really tell if it'd making any difference.
Anyone have any Opinions or Experience with using the forward location holes on the mount?
Was looking at buying an Ohlins linear unit,
But Donsy's posts might have changed my mind on that.
