My dealer has a leftover 2005 F4 on the floor.

My dealer has a leftover 2005 F4 on the floor. He said "obviously we would work on the price because its a 2005".

What is a fair price? What should I offer?

Pro Italia has Manufacturer's rebate listed on their 2006 MV which brings the price down to $20,000 and they're throwing in a free $600 service (offer use to be a free $600 jacket but I think they ran out). So, I'd expect blow $20,000 for a 2005. Maybe $19,400 or less.

some places on cycletrader are posting 2005's for 17,900. The only thing is i don't know if they are demo bikes because mileage is not listed.

If there isn't any special promo's and or rebates offered, i'd start my bid at 18k. A offer of 18k includes the price of the bike as well as shipment costs. I believe 18-18.5 is a fair price for a 05, F4 1000 bike. Also, I don't know many retailers that wouldn't take an offer of 18-18.5 if you were able to pay it with cash. I'd suggest you get some quotes from a few dealers; that way you'd be in a better position to negotiate. Especially thoses with special rebates or product and service offers. I trust that if you make an offer of 18k, you'll be in a better position to leave with this bike out the door paying no more then 19k, including tax @ Lic. Also, You may want to look into the COST PRICE of how much the dealer paid for the bike. I believe if you ask; they must show you there invoice. Good Luck! and Let us know how it went for you.

Beaudry Motorsports has a couple of '06's listed on their website for $17,900. FWIW.

Food for thought: I see a disturbing downward trend with all these prices. These 2006 MVs at $17,900 mean those bikes will be showing up used in the relatively near future at $16,000, and it means the leftover 05s are even now worth what? maybe $16,500. All this means the low mile '05 I am trying to sell is worth maybe ???? 14? That means my MV cost me about $6 per mile to own. I'm sure glad I don't have to sell the MV but at the same time my '06 gsxr 1k depreciated maybe $700 compared to almost $10K for the MV. Actually the MV depreciation is in excess of what I paid for the gixxer?

But look at the bright side. At these prices MV will go bankrupt again because nobody will want to buy an 07 for 23k or watever and our MVs will then increase in value because of scarcity and we will all have collector items.

Sorry I kind of hijacked the thread, but at $17,900 you should definitely buy one to ride and maybe one to wrap in plastic and store for 10 years. I wonder what I could get a crated '05 for?

Well, dealers aren't exactly going to give bikes away and discounts will only go so far. Pro Italia told me to hold off a week until they got word about the manufacturer's rebates so they could give me a lower price. But rebates won't last forever. And, dealers aren't going to give bikes away (like the Tucson dealer who still has a new 2003).

Also, what are the details on bikes going for $17,900. Are they demo bikes? New bikes with 100 miles on them? Is that specific dealer selling at a loss to meet next years allocations? We can't jump to conclusions without doing some homework.

On the plus side, I noticed more people buying MV recently. On the other hand, when I was shopping for used ones a few months ago, I didn't really find that many used ones.
