Ok... Went for a short ride...

I installed a new battery in the F4 today... Dumped the fuel cell, and filled it with new gas and a small amount of FI cleaner. It fired and ran a bit rough for a bit. As I took off it felt as if it was missing a bit. It was not smooth at all while accelerating in first or second. As I turned around it stalled, luckly for me the battery was charged and good...

Would you think the injectors are just that bad after sitting for 1.5yrs solid? The fuel fittings are in great condition with no leaks, however I am still a bit confused of the position of one. There is a white and black connector, then a 12" hose coming from the tank itself. Then I have a hose connected from the bike itself. It has 4 hoses going into a connector but it will not fit the 90 degree male fitting on the bottom of the tank... would this be the reason it feel starved?

I also can not find a manual on the 1000R which seems to be a bit different in the fuel system?!? I believe we are going to the local Ducati shop after the holiday...

If I don't use gas stabilizer for fall lay-up (cycles,tiller,mower,ect) when spring rolls around I sometime have carb problems. I have heard shelf life for gas is 6 months max. Do you know if the bike had a fuel stabilizer added? You may have some buildup. Just my experience. Good luck.

The 4 small rubber hoses are the evap emissions hoses to the intake manifolds. They are venting fuel vapors from the charcoal cannister inside the tank which is venting the gas cap. Search for threads on getting rid of this California mandated stuff.

The black and white connectors are the fuel pressure to the injector rail and the return to the tank. Really makes no difference which way they hooked up as long as hose routing isn't pinched.

I would suggest your spark plugs are fouled since the bike does satrt and run, just roughly.

Buy some iridium plugs from your favorite Hon-Suz-Kaw-Yam store.


E10 gasoline has a shelf life of about 2 weeks before the alcohol starts to precipitate out and collect moisture from the air. Find some StarTron enzyme fuel treatment (bike shops and wal-mart in marine section). Good stuff.

SSG get that thing going so you can head up to Bubba II this Oct. I am here with some of your brethern in Afghanistan. This place is nothing like the brochure.
