What sort of average mileage in a year

do we all manage on our MV's, anybody do 15k or more?

I get the feeling that these bikes don't get used as much as your average bike from the land of the rising sun.

How do they hold up to higher mileage as well?

The owner i bought mine from did 400 miles in 18 months

WHEN I READ ABOUT THE PERILS OF DRINKING, I GAVE UP READING!!

I ride just under 10,000 miles per year but in 2009 only 1,700 of those miles was on the MV. The bike just isn't intended to be riden every day as a commuter but much more as a track bike

Don't make excuses, Make it happen

I have 5k miles in about 2 and a bit years of owning my bike. Definitely not a commuter though it can be used as one. Just depends on the fitness and the preference of the rider I would think.

I think you are right, on average MV owners don't put in a lot of miles but there are always exceptions and some of the guys here put in 10,000 plus in a year. I have to admit, I don't do a great deal of mileage on mine, the crap weather we have in the UK has quite a bit to do with that.

I've had mine nearly 3 years and have covered only 2k miles. All of them fun but some of them uncomfortable.

I'm only a sunny day rider and have run two bikes for the last 6 years.

Well...I have 12,800 miles on mine since August 2008. I would have more if I had more opportunities to ride. Should be about 14K right now if we hadn't had such cold or wet weather since first part of December.

There are others on the forum that ride their bikes. Why not? It is a great bike to look at as well as ride.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

Like Spartakus, I ride almost 10K per year, but I spread it out over several bikes. I really enjoy riding my MV for obvious reasons, but my Harley, BMW, etc. have equally appealing reasons for riding them.

910R, S4RS Monster,'78 BMW R100S, Heritage Softail, Chrome V-Rod, Sportster 48, Kawasaki Concours 1400, '07 Ultra Classic with sidecar, yellow Vespa LX 150, a cool little Ruckus, and a very understanding wife........

While there are many garage queens, man of us put substantial miles on our MVs.

BUT, yes, on average, it's true most MVs have far less use than typical bikes. But MVs are not typical bikes, they are far more special.

I picked my 2004 S1000 1+1 Up in May of last year with 36,000kms on the clock & have put about 7,000kms on it since then. However i use the MV just about everyday as it is my only form of transport to & from work and to the shops etc! No problems whatsoever! The bike is forum member gazmans old F4 & I must say i'm happy. I know it's meant for the track but it does better as an everyday commuter than my previous two bikes by far! So long as it's well maintained and looked after i think you can put this bike to any use you like!
