@#%$^ ! Ruined my tail section by installing Clear Alternatives lights

Am livid !

Followed step by step instructions and still messed up big time.
Had the tail piece flipped over on a mattress in order not to damage it as I was fastening the CA light unit. Was kind of loose, so I had to tighten it a bit harder than the original set. The result can be noticed in attached pictures.

Do mind, I only noticed half an hour later when the tail unit was already back on the bike. It's not like anything cracked or so...went through it like butter.

Surely ruined my weekend. Dang.
Why on earth didn't Clear Alternatives call for some shims if fitting is an issue with these units ??????

On a different note - anybody knows where I can buy a tail unit for a 1078 ? (mine is a 312, but might as well get the nicer color scheme).

Wow... looks horrible. sorry for that.
But I installed already three clear alternative taillights to my MVs (F41000S, F4750S and Brutale 910S) and no one damaged the tail section like that! So it is not clear for my, why this happened? Probably a little different between the MV tail sections?

Red cheers
Manuel

damn that sucks!
If I remember right... packaged with my tail lights was a round piece of foam with adhesive on one side. That piece goes on top in the light unit and acts like a shim and holds the unit in place.
Did you get one of these in your kit?

This has been seen lots before...You're not the first. IIRC there are some shims you need to transfer from the old unit to the new.
Bummer dude.

B4 750S [sold]

I just checked my original, you are right, the shim came off the original light unit.
