I really wanted to like the RC8R. I waited for a long time, drooling over the looks when they released it as a concept, etc.

To be honest, it just didn't live up to the expectations I had of it. It was really hard to modulate the throttle. It felt almost like there was drivetrain lash. The seating position was more upright than the MV which I also don't really like. It was about a third of the way to a streetfighter seating position. Adjustable rearsets would help a lot with that, though. Oh, and the stock rearsets suck, but that can be said of any stock units. I don't know why they don't just knurl those things at the factory.
It had street tires on it that had about 75% life in them. Even so, I was comfortable enough on the second lap to get my knee down. The demo bikes didn't have transponders on them so I can't compare lap times =(.
The thing had plenty of torque and lots of power. Revved really quickly. Nice flat power delivery, but the whole thing was just kind of meh. It didn't inspire me the way the MV does.
Even the looks weren't anything special, in person. I think the pictures make it look good at certain angles. Other angles it just looks...odd.

Re: the MV paintjob
You can see a side shot of my new paintjob in this video, but it's a small image.

Good call. I love this suit. Luckily I haven't crashed it yet, so I can't vouch for it's durability. Top notch quality though.
