Nah, the 'Busa was slow (1198 slowest, 'Blade one of the slowest...). The ZZR1400 beat the 1078 by one and a half mile/hrs... The 1078 didn't reach the rev limiter by a whisker.

Test was done on the Autobahn leading to Berlin. And they got fined...

It's quite a long article to scan and I can only scan in b/w, so forgive me...

The ZZR1400 is a straight line drag machine like the 'busa, any F4 will slay it in the twisties

If you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem!

Of course. But the test was for straight out speed.

one would hope that the bike with the highest displacement would win in a all-out drag race for top speed....

If at first you don't succeed, use a hammer instead

Mag won't be available in USA for a couple weeks. What were the mph numbers for all the bikes?

Not if the larger displacement bike is theoretically limited to 300km/h and the smaller one is advertised as having a 312 km/h top speed.

To the OP:
Did they remove the speed limiters on the other bikes?

Cool

9 Ducati 1198 178.37

8 KTM RC8R 179.56

7 Honda Fireblade 181.51

6 Yamaha R1 183.20

5 Kawasaki ZX-10R 183.90

4 Aprilia RSV4 184.00

3 Suzuki Hayabusa 184.96

2 MV Agusta 1078RR 312 185.56

1 Kawasaki ZZR1400 187.04

All bikes were fully fuelled (not for a long time I guess... )

The article doesn't mention removing limiters.

Here you go.
Firstly, speed testing carried out at Bruntingthorpe's two mile strip, not on Autobahn. Results are with decent following wind which is why Kawasaki exceeded the 186mph limit.

"The MV is only restricted by its rev limiter kicking in at 13000rpm, and its inability to make enough power in sixth to hit it.
Though if it did it would be doing 310km/h. Stuff enough air in the tyre to increase the radius by 2.5mm and it would be 312km/hjust like it says on the tin. But I think its only a serving suggestion, as it would need another six or seven horses to acheive this speed."

Quoted weights are fully fuelled.

9 th Ducati 1198 203 kg 178.37mph bhp 155 @ 9800rpm.
8th KTMRC8R 202kg 179.56mph bhp 158.89 @ 10200rpm
7th Fireblade 202kg 181.51mph bhp 165.9 @ 12100rpm
6th R1 217.5kg 183.20mph bhp 161 @ 12750rpm
5th ZX10R 212kg 183.90mph bhp 165 @ 12200rpm
4th RSVR 206 kg 184mph bhp 155.88 @ 12500rpm
3rd Busa 267kg 184.96 mph bhp 176.6 @ 9500rpm
2nd MV 220kg 185.56 mph bhp 169 @1100rpm
!st ZZR 265kg 187.04 mph. bhp 166.2 @9100rpm

These are all datalogged figures .

So to all the Gum Bumpers a standard 1078 RR 312 will not acheive 312km/h with a following wind .

Are you all going to apologise to Mr.Wood or stay in denial?
