tire warmers on the MV...

Hello...Curious....for those that track their F4's and use tire warmers, how the heck are you fitting the front tire with the warmer? I have new Michelin Power One Race tires on the MV and the space between the front fender and tire is paper thin. It was always thin even with the Pirelli's but this is my first time going with the warmers.

Is the only option to take off the front fender for the day? I have included two pic's I happened to have...do your front tires/fenders look as close together as this?

From what I can see in the photo...it's too tight to use tire warmers. There should be enough space to get your finger (at least to the first knuckle) between the tire and fender. You might need to remount the fender using a metal bracket (can be formed from a short piece of aluminum) to give yourself 1/2" of space

Give it a day or two and see if anyone else comes back with a better solution.

a raceglass fender should have extra space......but havent put mine on to check yet....

Tyre warmers don't fit on the F4, although I'm not sure about the later models.

The Australian race team from a year ago made some aluminium spacers to push the guard out from the tyre and provide enough room for tyre warmers. I have some pics which I'll have a look for later.

A race glass fender is probably the same as a normal guard as the manufacturer would have used a normal guard for the mold. If so it's of no use.

Removal of the front guard to allow tyre warmers may not be an option depending on the routing of the brake cables. A friend did just that on his 996 SP. He crested Lukey (Phillip Island) only to find he had no front brakes (the wheel had rubbed against the brake lines creating a hole). The result was mega downshift, lots of rear brake, soiled jocs and the knowledge that you can go quite fast, or at least much faster than what he was used to, around MG.

got worried so fitted my race front fender when i got home and the tyre warmers fit easily thank god

Ok...I've looked on the net for raceglass fenders and couldn't find anything! Do you no of a website? Where did you get it?

By the way, what tires are you running? I think these new Michelins have a tall carcus, any help with an extended front fender would be great! The story above about the guy wearing thru his break line is an eye-opener! I'd like to avoid that at all costs!
