What did you pay for 1st service

Reason am asking I asked two dealers how much they charge and got two different quotes one over $600.00 another $200.00.I ask what as involved they said valve adjustment other told me no need to adjust the valves until 10 000.00 miles. Any input greatly appricated

Personally I wouldnt touch the valves till around 7500-10,000.

I was told that at the first service the valves need to be checked and adjusted only if need be. This makes the first service expensive, but, at least you know that the valves are within tolorance, worth the money IMO.

+1 Always a good idea to get them checked and adjusted if required at the 1st service.

already a thread out on this

in U.K. first service is free

valves are checked on first service and all of mine were out and needed adjusting on the 312 (first service).

My dealer said the valves are supposed to be checked but they don't do it since it's really a waste. Seems like there's a difference of opinion between dealers

All my exhaust valves were out at the first service. I paid around $800. Have not been out since. Maintenance manual specifically states valves should be checked at the 600mi service. Warranty states that all maintenance must be done in accordance to the manual or they can void warranty. You make the call.

Cant argue with that Rob and I agree

it was all of my exhaust valves that were out too.

why pay over the odds for the bike then skimp/dodge and save on servicing

if your gonna do it, do it right.
