Leaking Radiator, my turn.

Well it looks like my bike joins the leaking radiator club. Upper left side, like everyone else it seems. My bike is out of warranty, so I don't know if I can get it replaced as a good faith repair or not. Anyone had any luck with this? Bike is an '07 F4-1000R with 11k miles on the odometer.

For the rest of you with failures, can you respond to the poll?

Yes, I did have luck...sort of.

My radiator first cracked in the upper left corner at around 4,000 miles (7/2007) which sort of prompted me to get the Tricolore as a second bike. It was covered under warranty although by bike was in the show for about 4 weeks.

Fast forward to late March 2009, I started getting the dribbles and splatters on the windscreen and sure enough, it was the crack in the same location again. This time, I'm out of warranty. A replacement radiator is about $550 or so. Not bad because I was thinking $700 to $800. HOWEVER, MV Agusta USA offered to replace the radiator via a goodwill warranty. It was 8 months out of warranty at the time. Problem is, I couldn't get a firm date on when the new and supposedly updated radiator with "beefier mounts would arrive. So, out of irritation, I traded my '06 F4S for a '09 1198. I was really close to getting a 312R but after two radiators, a new model imminent, a bigger deal on a 1198 that was in the showroom, I went with the 1198.

But, yes, I think you should be able to get your dealer to cover it under a goodwill warranty and the new radiator, in theory should not be as prone to cracking.

Mine cracked right at the mounting bracket, upper left side. 2007 F41000R. Luckily, I bought the extended warranty for 500.00 bucks and it paid off this time for me, as I was about 6 months out of the Manufacturer's warranty when it occurred.

The good news is that the new replacement radiator is lot beefier in the mounting bracket area, so it shouldn't happen again.

The radiator on my R actually developed cracks in both upper corners!
