Graphics error

Greeting folks,

Now I know this is subjective as it is each to their own, but after accidentally putting the wrong Decals(the long one which is forward top of the side middle panel) on my bike for it's respray I can't figure out if I should just live with it. Particually as it took me over 2 weeks to spot my error. Working on the bike in the garage the MV part of the logo looks white depending on the light and the angle. On my bike now the 'MV' part of the logo is silver from the side panel paint beneath it as the decal must be clear in this area, but for me it depends on the light/angle as to when it is obvious.

The 'MV' in this decal should be white and the lighter blue side ways flash should be lighter, but I ordered 1970's MV 750 decals without realising it. I did not spot the differences when comparing to a correct Decal, I think due to when carefully pulling back part of the Decal cover the backing paper was white which hid the MV part being clear.

The point is should I just live with it at least for now because unless I pointed it out most peeps wouldn't spot it, or would most of you immediately need to get both side panels completely redone because it would bug you? I could wait til their is a reason to repaint. At the moment I can't figure it out, but it seems a shame to repaint as I just had it done.

I already have a spare set of the correct Decals(yes I'm sure as they have the proper MV part numbers for a MV750 F4 2000). I do not intend to sell the bike, and if I did would get it re-done correctly.

I am one who wouldn't notice because I am not well-versed in MV livery.

Putting it another way, and with the greatest respect, I could live with the decals but not the red exhaust tail pipes. A classic case of each to their own

The average purchaser on the street would have little idea of decal differences between models. In fact, some know only of the MV as red and silver with four tail pipes (F4). The problem though, for those of us with a pedantic nature is that we cannot live with minor flaws. (And therein lies the reason for my divorce(s)

If the bike were purely stock, I might be tempted to go to the original.

Since the bike is not stock in appearance or equipment, I'd leave it alone. It looks nice and it doesn't' detract from the bike.

Thanks for the replies people and your time, you have put my mind at ease(for now).

Now then uncle nigelrb, individual tastes are certainly interesting, those pipes are a pinky red anodised finish Titanium Sil Moto's with I think Chrome tips. Not everybody likes em, they came with the bike and I think their great and along with the wheels helped me to choose this particular bike and the fact was it was a steal. A bit ostentatious for some I must admit so I can certainly understand your view on said matter.

Some times peeps opinion bothers me as in causes doubt, but not when I am certain I like something.
The bike came with the original pipes in a box, and I must say I find them ugly and very boring in shape and plain black. Another interesting one is the original wheels, matt dark grey(the early models, silver later much better) although some like understatement.

Now here's an odd one, if you noticed that the dzus fastners are Aluminium on the right of the bike and the original gold types on the bikes left, yes I know it is slightly eccentric and it is for several reasons it is like this. Incidentally does anyone know what that electro plating? gold type finishing is called on the original fairing fastners?

Thanks for the pic, Mr Bert.

It truly is a nice bike, and I will never criticise anyone's tastes. I am just a stickler for originality - says he with a non-original carbon hugger!

Fairly sure the dzus fasteners are cadmium plated. This has come up before and @silentservice703 is bound to present the definitive answer.

Cadium plating does seem to match from images I just looked at, particularly in it's random finish. I wasn't sure how to get my fastners re done because I didn't know what process it is.
So I ordered several replacements and despite asking for one's with a decent finish found the finish to be poor at times and that only 1 in 3 is good enough to mount on the bike. I have actually thought of getting them gold plated as the original finish doesn't seem to last well, some of my nuts and bolts are now silver in colour or the gold effect is very dull/faded and my bikes is generally pampered against weather.

I wonder if there is something better but not as expensive as gold plating.

Only problem with that would be the look on the jeweller's face when you take them in for polishing
