OK heres the deal. I transplanted a 1000 into my 750 and had to change the harness, ECU, the whole kit and caboodle. Well, everytime I leave the bike sit for any amount of time the battery goes dead. I've replace the battery once already and I'm getting kind of pissed :banghead:. Has anyone else had problems with thier 1000R's losing the charge and what was the culpret ? Is there someplace I should start looking first for this gremlin ?

Thank you in advance

Check your key off current draw. Should be just a milliamp or so (meter/clock). Look for the reason if it is excessive (leaky diode in rectifier or similar). If it isn't excessive then you just got crappy batteries.

Can You specify "any amount of time" ? I experienced on my F4's that the batteries are discharged after around three to four weeks. And this so far that they are considered not chargable. So I bought probably around ten batteries in my first years of owning a F4. Since a few Years is my F4 constantly on a charger when ever it is in the garage. So that was the best money spend so far and would probably help You as well. But what is consuming power when the bike is switched off ?

with the 312R I had a 2/3 week max then dead I had the data tool alarm on it and put it down to the alarm drawing current

My EV03 had the same Data tool system 4 alarm and I could get 2 - 3 months life before going flat so the short term answer is a good trickle charger. There has to be something drawing juice through the 312 and with both bikes having same alarm I cannot point the finger at the alarm system especually when others with the 1000 are having same problems.

My 1000S is approaching 4 years old now, I have the Datatool S4 alarm fitted and I'm still on the original battery although I do use an Optimate battery tender.
