2004 F4 1000s?

I finally bought an F4 1000s. First time I asked the year of the MV I thought it was strange the owner said 2004.
I'm now looking at the papers and first registration was in August 2004.
10th digit of VIN is a 4.
I thought the 1000s started production only in 2005 or 2006.
Does it mean it's a very early model? Does anybody else has a 2004 1000s?

Release date and production date aren't necessarily the same. In the US, model year 2005 F4's started production in 2004. My 1000S was produced in 2004.

2009 F4 RR 1078 312
2005 F4 Tamboweenie
2005 F4 1000S
1999 Aprilia RS50
1996 Ducati 916
1959 MV Agusta TREL 125 Centomila

PAST - 2013 F4RR, 2008 F4 312R, 2005 F4 1000S, 1999 F4 750 S

US Models were always released a year after the other world markets, with Europe always first.

The 2008 Brutale I have was a 2007 model in Europe.

All that being said, the VIN digit indicates the YEAR model. As with cars and other brands of bikes, the next years models are produced in the summer preceding. 2019 models are about to hit the showroom floors now (or have). 2018 models were selling last fall.

If your VIN says "4" it is a 2004 model. When it was first sold/registered is irrelevant.

Thanks for the clear answers.
I'm actually happy to have an early model.
Ride safe.
