Question tell me about 2005 MV Brutale 910s

All,

Local bike for sale, looks clean, 5000 miles. Seller is motivated. Please tell me about this bike: known issues, parts availability, quirks, etc. What is a bike like this worth realistically? Machine looks to be in excellent condition. I have not seen or tested yet, but have some interest, maybe.

Thanks!

The 910 is a great engine and chassis. Reliable and easy to work on. That year model will have the older SPU, so that is a concern (unless it has been replaced). There is lots of information about that here, just search.

The headlight glass is infamous for coming unattached (aged or "crappy when new" glue). Easy to fix before it falls out and breaks.

This year will have the 16M ECU..... and separate headers and mid-pipe, so easy to de-cat (if it isn't already).

If set-up properly it will make you smile.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

So, seller is now "extremely motivated". What would be a reasonable price range for the 2005 F4 910, 5000 miles, local bike, second owner? Houston, TX USA.

Well.... you can buy Randarosa's 2008 910R with all the possible bling (including Titanium MV Corse exhaust) for $7500 (which is a steal in my opinion)....so you can go from that.

Esq,

Helpful, thank you... thinking about this bike even after buying my new Brutale. Owner has been trying to sell it all year.

I fully understand your dilemma. When a certain bike gets 'under our skin' it is difficult to simply forget. I am a tad impulsive, but with your situation it sounds as if you have dwelled on it for a long time.

From my perspective (assuming finances and space permit - and spousal approval if necessary) I'd bite the bullet and buy it. Could be a worthwhile 'project' and one that you'd probably not lose on over time.

Nigel,

What I may do is let the matter rest until around Christmas. If seller still is super motivated, and a test ride reveals the bike is true to his word, a low ball cash offer could happen. He is very local to me, next town over, so easy. He seems to have no idea what his minimum price is though, and putting little effort into selling the 910. Hence my questions. Would make a nice surprise from Santa, and give my wife time to recover from the new Brutale purchase last week. Off to ride shortly and meet friends for breakfast in Alvin, TX, USA.. Thanks for your comments.
