Fuel Vent Hose

Okay so I am bringing my 2008 F4 out of hibernation. I had taken off all the bodywork sometime back (about 1-1/2 years ago) for a thorough detailed cleaning which I did yesterday. So I have it pretty much back together BUT I realized I did not hook up a fuel tank vent hose that connects to bottom of fuel tank. Is this for overflow/spilled gas when refueling or is it for some other venting purpose ?

Thanks for reply

So that's what I was hoping as kind of being lazy and didn't want to pull tank again

Thumbs up ?

Steve;
What you should have done is renew the lines in the tank ( every 3 years)

Change the fuel filter

Remove the cannister and bracket

Wye the vent and drain lines together and connect them to the tank drain.....

Then you'll need to epoxy closed the 2 fittings on the fuel pump plate on the inside

Then to change a fuel filter ..... it's remove the tank, undo the 3 nuts pull the pump plate with 3 6mm screws, pull the pump and change
the filter......no dicking around with lines and clamps in cramped spaces

As for the line fron the bottom of the fuel pump plate......toss it ......you leave all the vent lines on Mikuni carbs?????

Didn't think so ...... nobody does

Yeah Thanks Noel !! I was just happy I finally got off my ass and put her back together after being apart for 1-1/2 years (I ride in the woods almost every weekend so that takes up a lot of riding/bike prep time etc...) Anyway those things will have to be on the to do list

Believe it or not after 1-1/2 years with all the fasteners laid out on workbench I found everything but the damn too little pins for the seat - gonna dig around and see if I can find them this evening otherwise bike is ready to ride

Here's a pic
