Hi all. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a 2008 312r. I just wanted your opinions on if you think its a fair deal. KBB shows its worth about 9700 in excellent condition. Dealer wants $10,000 and it has some scratches on the left side from what looks to be just a tip over. Financing is good with a 2.6%APR. What do you guys think- is it worth it? Link is below.

sweet looking bike! I'm relatively new to the forum myself so id wait for more experienced replies, but the bike looks awesome and price does not seem unreasonable to me. Also pretty low financing rate for a motorcycle.

It's about 2-3k more than I would like to pay but if you like the bike and color scheme, a thousand or three up or down really doesn't make a difference imo. Looking at the fairing, it looks like there is/was a leak by the kickstand, hopefully from a loose engine bolt. The frame plates and swingarm look funny; maybe a chemical wash or something? The fork stanchions look oily. Check for leaky seals. It's common. The ad states a deposit was made. If that was you, congrats. You're gonna love the 312R. imo it was the best of the 1k's in that generation.

Price seems high, I just traded in my mint 07 in May with a mere 1400 miles for $9500 that the dealer quickly resold for $10,500. My mint 08 312R was bought for $10,500 last June with 3300 miles. This one, even without excuses, seems high by several thousand.

The pics aren't great but I can see that it has cosmetic damage to the seat unit (left hand side) and that the damage to the fairing is right where you don't want to see it - at the point where the trellis frame is in close proximity to the inside of the fairing. This will often lead to cosmetic damage to the trellis frame.

This, along with the other points raised above, are indicators of a bike to avoid unless it is around $5,500 USD.

It ain't what you ride, it's the way you ride it.

Scratch on the tank also. I'm with Dave on this one.
