QD exhaust for MY10+ F4 - looking for info

I've seen some photos and videos on the net for a QD exhaust for the newer F4s and they look fantastic, but I can't find a seller or any other info.

Anyone got any information? QD's website doesn't even show it.

Found them for sale here. They have a few pictures there as well.

That price converts to $3600 CAD. I can't tell if it's a slip on or full system though. Not much info on that site about them. If it is only a slip on, personally, I think Bodis is a much better looking and cheaper option. But if it is a full system, that'd be one heck of a deal for a full titanium exhaust. I'm sure Al knows?!?!

Looks like a slip on to me. You can see the stock heat shield near the foot peg.

Slip ons go past where that heat shield attaches so I'm guessing they included mounts for the heat shield unlike Bodis and Motocorse.

Cool QD Exhaust F4

These are actually Slip on Mufflers only and QD have no intention of making the full system. They arriving with us in 9 days time and currently the have not been released yet and the link you have added to this thread is not the finish item but one of the final prototypes before production began.

The DB killers are removable and there is a significant weight reduction i can tell you. More details will follow on our market place in 10 days with images etc.

Regards

Al

I've had a set of these QD mufflers on my F4 for a week or so now, so I thought I'd update this thread and share my opinion:

Firstly, the production unit is a lot nicer than the prototype in the photo above and YouTube video. The welds are neater and the link pipe is straighter. It's very well made and a work of art.

Contrary to the (pre-release) info above, to maintain the Euro rating for road legality, the db killers are not removable. However, the sounds is simply gorgeous. Very throaty and a vast improvement over the stock sardine tin.

The pipes extend down to the join just forward of the exhaust valve. Though there is no valve fitted in the slip-on's, there is a mounting point for the standard cam and cables assembly (with spring stops.) However, I decided to disconnect the cables from the servo under the tank and put all the bits away in a box. There are also mounting points welded onto the link pipe to fit the standard heat shield.

The exhaust comes in 3 parts; the mufflers, the link pipe and elbow. Fitting the mufflers to the link pipe took a bit of effort, but a bit of patience and I had it sorted. Once assembled, it fitted really easily. (Getting the valve cable safety clamp off the standard pipe is a pain though as access is awkward and the bolt is made of cheddar.)

If you look at the item on the Design Corse website, you'll see it says for MY13+, but the picture is my MY10. So it does fit the earlier bikes, but you'll need to get a tail tidy to fit a '13 as the bolt spacing is different.

I finally got to give it a proper run this weekend and did about 70 miles of back roads. If the (IMO) greatly improved looks and sound aren't enough, I'd also say the bike is smoother to ride at low speeds and appears to accelerate more smoothly in the lower 3rd of the rev range. I've got no data to prove that, just a gut/butt feeling, but if it's actually the case I suspect removing the exhaust valve might have a lot to do with that. It burbles and pops on a sharply closed throttle, but it always did that, it's just that much more audible now. It also attracts a lot more attention when parked up!

Like a lot of people, I guess, I'd never heard of Swiss manufacturer QD. But I'm more than happy with the finish and quality of this system. It's certainly nice to have one more option on the market and I'd certainly advise anyone thinking of changing theirs to give them a look and consideration.

Si
