F4 RR electrical problem

To my surprise the two year old battery did not hold its charge any longer. Replaced the battery. Everything went fine, no problems.
Another surprise after connecting the new battery. Oil warning light is on all the time, even when ignition is switched off. The rest of the electric system is dead, nothing happening at all.
I have checked the main fuses under the seat and the smaller fuses on the left side . All OK. Anybody have a clue what this might be?

What year bike is this?

You say everything is "dead"?? Engine won't start, lights don't come on with key? Just "oil light on all the time"???

Did you install the battery backwards??? You wouldn't be the first.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

The bike is a 2012 F4 RR.
No lights, no dashboard, nothing at all . Except the oil light. And the polarity is definitely right! I am puzzled!

Ok @PePe....how do you know the polarity is right?

The battery should install in its side with the negative terminal forward....

Are you certain of that and that you got all of the wires that came off back in their original orientation?

Since it is not in your signature line...what year is your bike?

(It makes a difference when diagnosing electrical issues.)

if you've verified the correct polarity, check those two visible fuses in the photo. If something happened during the battery changing or some other odd event that caused some arching, it may have popped a fuse somewhere. Begin diagnosis in order from easiest to most difficult.

Since i don't know which is which, check em both. Also if your spare is blown, shows that someone has been in there already and the bike may have had an unresolved issue previously.

Mystery resolved !

Removed the battery once again, only to find out that one loose cable end was bent under the battery...
Works fine now
Laughable, but I am still glad it was not anything more serious.
