Headlight Conversion to LED

Does anyone know of a good kit to use to convert our HID headlights to LED? I have a feeling the person who owned my bike before me put in a cheap HID bulb and it's causing weird power issues. A stock MV HID headlight bulb is $400+ for whatever god awful reason so I figure I might as well upgrade the whole system to something that requires less power draw.

Since you can buy LED replacements for standard halogen bulbs...why not take the HID stuff off and just plug in an LED bulb with original harness?
Dunlop and über like this.

I was under the impression the stock bike uses a HID system. So I'd have to swap in a HID to LED conversion kit. I'm just trying to avoid buying a $400 factory bulb.

Hmmm...well, if the standard bike came with HID (I didn't know that) then you just need to study the wiring to the HID ballast, find the high and low beam feeds from the handlebar switch, toss the ballast and run straight 12v to the LED bulbs.

I least I think that could work. I'll have to find the 2015 wiring diagram and see if i can trace the circuit.....or maybe someone else knows??

Or I guess the even easier option is if anyone knows the type of HID bulb the stock bike uses. The part number is: 8000B4884 but I have no idea if that's a D4S, H1, H7, etc. I can always pull the bulb out of the bike, but even then I think some of the HID bulb types look almost identical and if the stock part isn't marked I'm back where I started only now my bike doesn't have a bulb lol.

Just checked pricing on the factory bulb and with shipping and currency conversion I'm looking at $310... for a light bulb.

Any bulb you have in your bike is a common bulb. MV doesn't spec or use exotic one off light bulbs.

Is it the low or high beam??

Apparently I have the memory of a goldfish. Doing a bit more digging on this forum I found a post I made several months back stating I figured out it uses a D1S Bi-Xenon so it's high/low in a single bulb. I kinda wanna delete this whole thread, but I'll leave my dumbassery intact so others can laugh at me later.

I had a look at the parts book and your bike does indeed have HID Xenon headlight... A look at the diagram and a quick Google search led me to this. Looks just like the drawing. D1S bulb

Since the headlamp body is configured for this style bulb I suspect LED conversion will be hard...but the price for the xenon HID isn't too bad.

Ah....you had a memory after I posted.... still, this info may be helpful for someone in the future. No such thing as a stupid question. So you should leave th e thread. I'm not laughing at you.

I ended up buying a set from a local import tuner shop. They special sourced parts to build their own HID bulb. Higher quality than the cheap $10 eBay knock offs, but cheaper than the Osram/Sylvania industry golden standard. Ended up spending like $60 for a pair so now I have a spare.

As far as I know, LED bulbs won't focus right in the headlights designed for HID (xenon) bulbs. That's because a xenon bulb is always longer, than an LED bulb.
