Should I have bought Bodis rather than QD?

Hey, I'm not sure what I'm expecting to hear from you guys, but here goes...

After considering Bodis vs QD for my '16 F4RR, I opted for QD as some said it was a little quieter than Bodis and didn't require removal of the valve actuators, but still deeper than stock.

My issue is, I'm finding the 'drone' of the QD annoying (plus I DID have to remove the actuator cables, as the QD pivot was unreliable)... It's always there, low speed, high speed, drone, drone, drone... Mates say it's like been followed by a wasp!!! Not at all the thunder I was hoping for and TBH monotonous. Though I do like the pops & crackles.

I guess I'm asking does a Bodis (or any other alternatives I've missed??) have a more acceptable tone when on the move?

Noise for the sake of noise is annoying to all.

If you are looking for performance gains, then a full system and a dyno tune is required.

Street riding these bikes is best done in stock form.

Please don't spew the nonsense that loud pipes save lives.

The loss of the exhaust valve gives you this effect even on a standard exhaust.

Cant comment on the bodis vs qd, i like look of the standard exhaust, its just its weight that i dont like so I'm in the process (when i find time) of making a similar style to the oem in titainium.

Probably so mate, if it sounds like you describe I would be annoyed also. That high pitched sound is unpleasant and of course that drone will be right at the speed you are traveling at most of the time, because that`s how life is.

Well it turns out the answer was an overwhelming 'yes'
Before I could get round to swopping back, the QD has split in two!!

I guess this may explain why I found it so loud... Must have cracked and has just finally split completely!!

Hi, I was going to ask if maybe there was an issue with the QD as I have one on my '14 R and really don't notice a drone as you explained. At some constant speeds (like being stuck on the M6 at 50MPH through the road works on my way to the TT a few weeks back!) it was a little 'harmonic' but I put that down to forgetting to put my ear plugs in! I find the tone of the QD's excellent and definitely more base sound whilst not being unsociable with the noise level....plus they look a whole lot more sexy than the standard exhaust!

Gavin, You're probably right... Once it's replaced, courtesy of the wonderful people at Design Corse, I'll give it another whirl...

My after market exhaust on the F4 is Bodis, both look and sounds fantastic. All my friends know it s me arriving at the gas station and car enthusiasts think it s a Ferrari arriving
The Bodis slip on the 2009 F4 is a bit more loud/metallic but in a good way. Regarding the 2014 F4 I kept the DB killers Bodis and the sound is superb. Both slip on look great but I think the finishing on the 2009 is little better than 2014.
Never considered the complete Bodis line exhaust because the slip on is enough for me.
In my opinion the best soundtrack coming from a bike is the F4 and the RSV4 and also have Bodis exhaust that sounds and looks fantastic

Why do you even ride that bike without any earplugs? On the street exhaust is very loud. On the highway, the wind noise will damage your hearing.

Can't comment on the differences. I have never heard QD in action. I have BODIS and it makes the bike sound like the old school F1 racer.
