F4-1000(S) - Drive Chain Specs

Its that time to replace the stock chain..came across what I believe the stock Regina-ZRP is a 525 Pitch x 108 link chain...and have NOT seen anything in the manual to reference whats stock and what I should replace with ?

...Also has been highly recommended to replace with RK-GXW Series chain..thoughts if you want ?

..and while we're at it if you don't mind explaining...525 pitch is for the teeth spacing between the links for the sprockets ?...and 108 links is how long the chain will need to be...so by chance if I got a longer chain..say 110 links..can the extra 2 links be cut off when installed ?

525 x 108 links is correct. Buy the best chain you can. You get what you pay for.

Do a little Google search on drive chains...many variables. Regina has good rep. High end DID are good. I had a lot of success with RK chains.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

I though they had a 530 chain on this model , I could be wrong though.

Donsy,

This is the only place I saw what they spec is on the F4 ..http://sprocketcenter.com/street-spr...2004-2010.html (me being a 2010). The data sheet for the Regina ZRP only talks about their technical specs of their chain products and of course dont mention how they are being used on MV's

Curtis, your bike is pre 2010 and Saso is talking post 2010, your Senna has the same pitch as all models from that era and I'm aware of this.
That link you put up has no post 2010 bike on it Saso, the 2010 bike they have on there is a 312RR, not the same as your bike.
Phone a reputable dealer to confirm.

Just out of curiosity, why are you thinking of changing chain and sprockets.

His title says F41000S, so at first I was confused until I saw his link posted and stating his was a 2010... and his post was put up while I was writing mine. Anyway. I am running ERV3 DID, and RK-GXW's on my liter bikes with no issues, but in 520. I figure that if I'm changing it all, I mine as well drop some weight. It's kind of like an oil discussion... everyone has their own ass hole... I mean opinion.

Is your chain and sprockets worn, why are you changing, and are you going to change chain and sprockets or just the chain Saso ?

525 is the width of the chain.
And yes, 108 is the amount of links, so it determines the chain length. Chain can be cut and joined to specific length.
Have a look in the maintenance or performance sections, lots of discussion on this topic mate

Was that 525 from standard Terry?
I remember one of our members doing his Y2010 F4 conversion to 520 and he claimed that he had 530 chain on it ?
