Decision help

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for reading my thread. I currently have a Ducati 848 fairly upgraded, and have been looking to upgrade. My current "buy" choices are:

1. 2010 MV Agusta F41000R - Less than 500 miles. In showroom condition with lots of CF upgrades - spotless - like new. Imagine buying it new with no dust on it. Red/silver - $11,000

2. 2012 MV Agusta F41000R - Bodis exhaust, less than 5000 miles. Bike is very well kept. - $12,000 red/silver

3. 2009 Ducati 1198 - full Termi, Nemis ECU, lots of CF, 13,000 miles, $10,000 red

I threw #3 just because that was what I was looking for originally, but the "test ride" I took two years ago on an F4 has never left my mind...

Please evaluate the "new" 2010 versus the 2012 MV options for me. Is there a significant difference between the 2010 and 2012 variants, perhaps in mechanical or reliability?

Thanks!!
Jim Woodward

The 2010 model would essentially be subject to "any" of the new model entry issues, without the resolutions applied, due to this sitting in a living room too long, not even done with the break-in.

comments?

I don't have experience with second gen (post-2010). However, I am gonna apply common sense and make some suggestions.

- If possible, for the most part, always pick the latest MY. It would have the issues sorted out from previous years. There are always exceptions.
- #2 with less than 5k miles is better. Still, I would ask the seller to do all the relevant maintenance items to bring it up to current maintenance schedule.

And, let us know your choice and share your riding impressions. Good luck.

Thanks,

I figured the 2012 was the best option. I went to see it and it was sold . However, I did something unique, and test road a 2012 Aprilia RSV4. This was a great bike, but didn't have the powertrain "scary-hit-of-rush" like the F4 had. RSV4 road great though.

So - I'll keep looking around.

Too bad it was gone! Good samples get snapped up in a hurry! As for the RSV4, I totally dig it. I have read a lot about it. Pretty much everyone ridden one, wants it! The sound is supposed to be pretty cool. I lurk around at the Aprilia forum; so, have learned a lot about it.

But, the challenges are: Aprilia sucks bad with parts, dealer support and customer service. MV has gotten a lot better. RSV4 is awesome; everything else isn't. Even if you got multiple bikes, leaving one at the dealer for a couple of months or more would suck. And, it's styling isn't my thing. Go for F4!

How do you like Bodis? I am guessing slip-on? How does it sound at idle and over 5k RPM?

Thanks.
