Tear on F4 pillion seat - anyone else had an issue?

My 2015 F4 has a small tear in the vinyl where it has been pulled over the plastic seat frame. In my opinion, this is due to a design flaw and the vinyl being pulled over a 'sharp' edge.

The seat has only been on the bike about 5 times (when my wife is daft enough to ride pillion) and the rest of the time I have a single seat cowl and remove the rear pegs.

I spoke to my dealer about this in September and have today been told that the MVA warranty manager doesn't feel a claim is valid as they have not seen any other examples!

As it happens, I have a second pillion seat (bought from a member on here) which also has a small tear (at the rear of the seat, whereas mine is at the front).

Anyone else? Presume the seats are the same on all Gen 2 models?

Yep, I have the same issue. Occurred after warranty expired. Will be replacing shortly.

I guess I'll never have to worry about it. When I bought the bike my wife said, very frankly, "I will never ride on the back of that bike."

Treat with 303 aerospace protectant to prevent breakdown and preserve pliability of the material.

I'm not sure that this would have prevented the tear on mine - I firmly believe it is an issue with the vinyl being pulled over a 'sharp' edge.

And to be honest I really don't think I should have to treat a seat on a 3 month old bike (I never have on any other bikes I've owned and the vinyl on the rear seat of my 1989 KR1 is still perfect).

But I can't really get excited about it - it's only a seat (that I rarely use).

Ahh, I see. that would be a defect IMO. The pointy side on mine is rounded off and upholstery evenly tensioned over it.
