F4RR: Problem fitting new nose cone

This is my first post, so it's slightly dissapointing it's to try and fix a problem, but still good to be on here seeing everyone's bikes and learning about different owners' experiences.

I have a 2011 F4RR. At around the 500 mile mark (I'm now on 2,000) I noticed a small crack in the left-hand side of the nose cone where the fastener clips to the bracket that's clamped to the frame. The crack eventually became so bad that it spread to the next fastener and effectively shattered the bottom of the nose cone. (I won't repeat the story that involved me trying to get a replacement). Anway, 615 later I have a new nose cone, but I have an issue with the same spot that cracked.

The original nose cone came off fine and the new one (mostly) went on fine, allowing me to fit, in order: the spoiler, the four screws that fit the cone to the fittings around the light, the mirrors, the screen, and airbox covers (they are fiddly devils). However, the part of the cone where I had the original crack doesn't line up with the bracket on the bike and subsequently the left-hand side fairing. Even with what I would consider considerable pressure the fairing won't move enough, so it's not a case of fitting the fasteners in a different order, or taking off the mirrors and screen to find some flex although I've tried that, too.

I've been told that I might need to manipulate the bracket and wonder if any other owners have had this problem?

Thanks to all that might be able to help!

I should have included a pic to remind us they still look brilliant, even with a few minor problems.
