Warranty F4RR

So I am getting my first MV this weekend after finally getting a weekend off from work. I am buying an US EPA unit test bike from the dealership and I am still hesitant if I would buy a 1000$ warranty since the bike doesn't have one, as track specific bike doesn't come with one. That's what the dealership told me anyway.
Should I get the warranty or not? I don't do track by the way, and I only ride conservatively at 5000miles per year average. I also have to convert it back to a road bike again with some of the parts from our forum members here. The bike has 300 miles on it and I am getting it at a very very cheap price.

Its good to have in my opinion. I got ready to use it now as my gear position sensor on Duc failed again. 6-$700 job. Extended warranty already half paid off and it just started. You have to ride like I do though ~18K miles in 1.5 years

Thanks for the reply Fragile. Yep, I have been considering possible worst case scenarios just like what I do with my cars. But they could only give me 2 years max. Been convincing them to extend it somehow and they said that they are working on it still. By the way, it is an aftermarket warranty and not the factory. I think it is from a company named M1.

As long as the dealer service vouches for it then it should be good, aftermarket or not. It's the dealer service that will chase the money as they do the repairs. Read the policy and understand what it all covers. Wear items and maintenance items are all excluded and are a condition (owner to cover responsibility) for valid standing on the service contract. In the end, if you ride, you'll pay a good amount for the maintenance and wear, while the service contract covers you on any unforeseen major items that don't normally break due to factory defect. Accidents excluded, of course. Bottom line its a great way to control costs if you plan to daily drive the bike. Take care!
