Eraldo Ferracci’s return to the AMA Superbike scene with Italian manufacturer MV Agusta has provided Matt Lynn with his first big-time opportunity. The 22-year-old hopes that he’ll prosper like other young riders have under the famed tuner's tutelage in the past -- superstars like Doug Polen, Troy Corser, and Mat Mladin.Lynn, like everyone on the FBF MV Agusta team, understands that they have a major task in front of them as they work to develop the still-raw contender into a Superbike capable of running up front against the world’s best, but the Georgian remains optimistic.“So far things are really good,” he said this morning at Barber Motorsports Park. “Everybody is working really hard and the bikes are coming along. Every time we go out on the track it’s a learning experience and everybody is learning. We have some steps ahead of us that we need to take to get out there and run with those guys. The Suzukis are blistering as always -- they’ve got their stuff together really good. “It’s a learning year and it’s going to take us a bit of time. It’s only the second race and I think the team is working really well together and everybody knows their job and what they need to do. It’s going to be good. Hopefully we just keep on getting better.”Commenting on how the exotic 1000cc inline four F4 behaves at this early stage of development, Lynn said, “The thing is really stable. It’s really planted. There were some issues we needed to work out with the fuel mapping and things like that but they got that taken care of since the test we had here. The only other thing is we’re experimenting with different geometries. This track is really unique because of the amount of elevation change. Turn 2, you’re going downhill and then you go up to Turn 3; you’re putting so much stress on the suspension and so many Gs that it takes a special set-up to get around here.”Lynn realizes that the chance to work with someone with the reputation and resume of Ferracci doesn’t come about everyday. Speaking about the Italian, Lynn remarked, “He’s fun. It’s like having a grandfather around. He cracks me up all the time and makes me laugh. But when it’s time to get to business he gets to business. He’s got a lot of knowledge and I’ll go talk to him about things and he’ll give me some feedback; if there is anything I need to change with my riding or if there are things with the bike. “Even when I had the chance to go down to Jennings and test with Eraldo Ferracci… It didn’t really hit me at first, but how many people can say they’ve had this opportunity?
