MV Agusta Racing made its Australian Superbike racing debut at the Mercedes Benz East Coast Road Race Series dominating the first round with 3 wins from 3 races in the Superbike Class on the new F4 1000 R piloted by 22 year old Brendan Clarke. The first round of the series was held at Sydney’s Eastern Creek on Sunday January 21, 2007 in scorching conditions with the MV Agusta Racing F4 1000 R certainly fueling the fire and turning up the heat even further beating traditional bikes in the class. Clarke also won the lead up race to the East Coast Road Race Series the day before against his Sunday rivals to take out the Broc Parkes Cup.Clarke qualified the F4 1000 R on Pole and was up against seasoned Australian Superbike Championship (ASC) campaigners. Competition was extremely close in the first two 5 lap sprint races with Clarke just edging out Etheridge, Spence and Zaja. In the third Clarke had much more control, formidably winning the last by an impressive 4 seconds.

Fast By Ferracci MV Agusta Has Switched From Pirelli To Dunlop
When the Fast By Ferracci (FBF) MV Agusta team started making plans to race in the 2007 AMA Championship, it originally intended to race in Superstock on Pirelli tires. The team even conducted two tests with American Matt Lynn and Italian Luca Scassa riding Superstock-spec MV Agusta F4-1000Rs on Superstock-spec Pirelli slicks at JenningsGP and Daytona International Speedway.Between those tests, however, FBF Team Owner Eraldo Ferracci and the powers that be at MV Agusta headquarters in Italy decided to change plans and race in AMA Superbike. And that change has led to FBF MV Agusta breaking a “gentleman’s agreement” with Pirelli and doing a deal with Dunlop.Read the rest of the article at roadracingworld.com >

One Year On by John
Well, here we are approaching the end of another year. Time to reflect on what’s past and what the future might hold too. MVAgusta.net is now around 18 months old and the 3000th member has joined us, making this a thriving and popular community. A look at the registry map shows a significant number of members in the US, Europe and Australia but there are also members in other areas too making it a truly global ‘club’
I recall looking through my local dealer’s window at two gleaming MV 750S Americas when I was a pimply 16 year old youth in the mid 1970’s. They were priced at over £3000 at a time when a Z1 Kawasaki could be had for around a third of that, but what machines they were! Shaft drive, when the only other big bike manufacturer using shaft propulsion was BMW and of course resplendent in Red and Silver. It’s nice to see that link with the past maintained by some of our members here who have examples of these bikes in their garages now.
