F3: THE DEVELOPMENT ADVANCES
February 24, 2011

Varese, 24th February 2011 - The development of the highly anticipated three cylinder hypersport is advancing rapidly in MV Agusta. Kilometer after kilometer on the track and on the road it is becoming ever more evident that this new model from MV will become the reference by which all other middle-weight hypersport motorcycles will be judged. The F3 has already exceeded the high expectations of the development team with regards to power and handling.

The engine has proven to be extremely reliable on the engine test bench during durability test cycles and has exceeded the power target at this level of development. The engine has already surpassed 135 CV and rev’s over 15.000 rpm. The dynamic performance of the engine has had a direct positive impact on the motorcycle as it combines the perfect combination of over-rev typically found on four cylinder engines with the increased torque offered by a three cylinder engine configuration.

The secret of the outstanding performance is the perfect synthesis between the engine and chassis. The counter-rotating crankshaft, a defining feature that separates the F3 from the competition, guarantees superior handling that cannot be matched by motorcycles with a conventional engine architecture. The counterrotating crankshaft not only offers an advantage during fast direction changes, there is also a massive benefit with regards to weight transfer during acceleration offering an increase in rear wheel traction.

The F3 offers the most advanced electronics and engine control system incorporating a Full Ride By Wire throttle body that together helps optimize the engine power and torque characteristics based on the needs and desires of the rider. The perfect harmony of electronics and vehicle chassis dynamics ensures that the F3 is agile and extremely easy to change rapidly the direction as well as giving the maximum amount of feedback to the rider when at maximum lean angles.

Thanks to the financial stability of the Group, which has to date exceeded the business plan, MV has been able to anticipate the industrialization of the F3 by 4 months: the pre-production and production are planned to begin mid September and the F3 will be available for sale in late autumn.

Late fall in America?

That would be great.

I don't think I've ever been more excited about wanting a particular vehicle in my life.

This is great to hear for sure. I know it is a press release from MV, but it is always good to hear when companies are ahead of plan.

No, late fall in Europe. Which means Spring/summer 2013 for US.
February 24, 2011 7:29 PM by The_castle
Wouldn't that be spring / summer 2012?

No, the US has received all modern MVs one entire model year after Europe, and they never arrive in the fall or winter (as always promised), but in the following year, usually toward early summer.

It also means my B3 is likely not here till 2014

Seeing as how that press release is from Italy, all of the lingo in it is European metric and the fact that that's MV's home this fall release most definitely is referring to Europe and not America.

As for 2013 release in the US... this could just be wishful thinking, but I'd like to think that MV will break their trend of waiting one full year and will push this out in 2012 for US. They almost half to. How insulting is that to customers to post the F3 (which is on the US MV site), but it's not releasing for 2 years? I think at that point they pretty much half to because not too many people who really want a bike will wait that long. The F3 is no doubt sexy, but so is the Daytona 675R and the Ducati 848 Evo.

My main worry though is that even though MV is trying to be competitive with pricing, what are the dealers going to do knowing this bike is considered the sexiest bike ever made? I really hope MV forces dealers to not price hike, because honestly I can see this being an $18k bike easily in America, even if it's MSRP is only around $13k-$14k just because they know people will want it.
